Barbara was born in Switzerland where she qualified and worked as a registered nurse, before heading off on her trip around the world. She immigrated to Australia at the age of 25 and made Brisbane her home. She is a mother of two grown up daughters and lives in Fig Tree Pocket with her husband.
Barbara experimented with Yoga (Hatha Yoga ) in her teens and for years she continued to participate in weekly classes in Australia. She tried Yoga Chi Gung in 1999 for the first time and came to “just love it”. Barbara did her teacher training course with Grant Woolven in 2003 and has been teaching Yoga Chi Gung classes in the Western Suburbs since 2004.
Barbara has been drawn to Yoga Chi Gung because of its body friendly approach and its powerful energetic effect on the body and mind.
Apart from teaching Yoga Chi Gung, Barbara also has training in Reiki 1+2 and different massage styles: Neuro-Lymphatic, Ayurvedic Oil and Zenthai Shiatsu Massage.
Since gaining her registration as a Yoga Chi Gung teacher, Barbara has continued to attend classes and workshops of Grant Woolven and she has explored other styles of Yoga, also Tai Chi and Qi Gong.
Together with Lynette and Robynne, two yoga teacher friends, Barbara has been running Yoga Chi Gung retreats in Coolum for over a decade.
Barbara's Yoga Chi Gung Testimonials:
“Barbara has been my yoga teacher for quite a few years now, and manages so well to keep us participants fully engaged as well as challenged, again and again. There is no week where I will not learn a new stretch or a new trick, while I can “ loose myself” in the more familiar postures and stretches. The meditations that complete the sessions are pure bliss and put my very busy mind to peace and calm each time. The beautifully selected music during the classes perfects the heavenly Wednesday nights for me. Fantastic classes for all!" Review by Heidi
Barbara exudes a calm and tranquil energy to her classes. Her weekly class provides an opportunity to exercise the body and mind. The atmosphere is set to the accompaniment of the lovely music she plays. She is interested in every one of her students and aims to provide variety of content and cater for all the different levels of need. Barbara's yoga chi gung class has, I feel, a spiritual experience at its core. Review by Wendy
A wonderful balance of physical activity and dynamic meditation. These classes have helped me to find balance and peace. Friendly and supportive, the instructor allows students to practice at the level of their own physical capability. There is no sense of competition.Review by Elizabeth
Tension headaches from working at a computer all day lead me to finally decide to start yoga classes. Barbara teaches in the evening at the local school hall - all very convenient. She is a wonderful teacher; welcoming, nurturing, encouraging and patient. She has a very calm demeanor which really helps to still the mind - something I really struggle with. I have loved becoming more strong and supple and I really enjoy the stretching we do on the floor. I love the spiritual connection in these classes as well. I highly recommend Barbara's yoga classes.
